The entrance to Zion National Park

A couple of weekends ago, I hit the road and headed south in search of sunshine and adventure with my husband and our daughter. It’s been years since I visited Zion National Park, and I forgot how much jaw-dropping beauty the area’s redrock landscape beholds—and how grateful I am to live so close to such natural wonders and wide open spaces.

Early spring is a great time to visit Zion because there aren’t any crowds and you can see the park with snow-capped peaks. Just be sure to check the weather before you travel and pack accordingly (despite being in the desert, it can be chilly and temps can drop drastically at night).

WHAT TO PACK

Here’s a peek at some of the items I packed for my weekend of glamping…

Fringe sweatshirt / fleece joggers / Lié Studio stone necklace / Birkenstock sandals / Varley sherpa fleece puffer jacket / ribbed socks / UGG boots / wide-leg crop jeans / dad hat / puka shell necklace and paracord necklace / scoop bra and sport leggings / sneakers / straw tote bag / Ray-Ban sunglasses / denim shirt / Loeffler Randall studded belt / Frame camo cargo pants (similar style here)

WHERE TO STAY

We bunked up for the weekend at AutoCamp Zion, a mid-century inspired boutique hotel located near the entrance to Zion National Park. The sprawling property features renovated Airstream suites and small-home style mini cabins with modern amenities. (AutoCamp also has locations in Cape Cod, the Catskills, Asheville, Joshua Tree, Yosemite, and more). The set up is ideal for families, but would also be fun for a group of friends or even a solo getaway.

Other notable glamping resorts in the area include Under Canvas Zion (I stayed at their Moab property with friends a few years back and we all loved it ), and Zion Wildflower Resort, which I’d like to check out the next time I go to Zion.
