Decking the Halls
Festive finds for your home, Christmas ornament bag charms, fresh holiday party inspo, and more.
Welcome to The Current, an occasionally weekly newsletter about all the things I’m currently coveting, watching, craving, reading, inspired by, and more.
CURRENTLY DECKING THE HALLS
My favorite thing about Thanksgiving weekend isn’t the mashed potatoes, the Macy’s parade, or the pumpkin pie, it’s getting our Christmas tree and decorating it. My parents always took my brother and I to pick out our tree the day after we’d stuffed our faces, and it’s a holiday tradition I’ve carried on with my husband and daughter.

I get so excited to pull out all of our ornaments and Christmas decor every year and deck our halls. I love adding a new ornament (or five) and special pieces to our collection each year. If you’re looking for a little something new (or a lot) to deck your halls, check out my roundup of this year’s favorite festive finds. A sampling of what the round-up includes…

CURRENTLY COVETING
I haven’t hopped on the bag charm trend yet, but this Vogue story showcasing little luxuries (a mini Hèrmes Kelly!!) and other fun baubles got me excited to give the trend a try.
The story features the bag charms adorning purses and Christmas trees, but it got me thinking how cool it would be to do the reverse and use your favorite small Christmas ornaments as bag charms for the holiday season.

Last week, I went to the annual O.C. Tanner Jewelers holiday party, one of my favorite fêtes of the season. Every year the beautiful store is decorated with a new holiday theme. This year’s theme was Soiree a L’Orangerie.

Now, anyone who knows me well knows that I hate oranges. And while they are by far my least favorite food, I admit that using citrus fruits as fodder for your holiday decor offers a fresh take on traditional Christmas style (and would be perfect for more tropical climates, too). I loved the decor at the O.C. Tanner party, and found a few items to recreate the look at home.

Olive velvet bow napkin ties // Set of 4 greenery ball ornaments // Magnolia leaf and orange wreath // Dark green gingham placemants // Amalfi lemon blown-glass ornament // Scalloped boxwood sage placemat // Gold and emerald green embellished ball ornaments // Blue and white Canton Collection Dolomite Christma tree // Amalfi Coast blown-glass ornaments

Is it even the holidays if you don’t watch The Holiday?
I’m crossing my fingers for the return of Mr. Napkin Head.
